TCD x AIVRT PhD, Jeremy Aboagye, wins TCD Tipton Medal

AIVRT PhD, Jeremy Aboagye, TCD, recently won the TCD Thesis in 3 (where a PhD presents their research in a rapid format of 3 minutes) and the 2025 Keith Tipton Medal Award at the School of Biochemistry and Immunology, Trinity College Dublin. This prestigious award not only recognizes outstanding academic achievement but also highlights the innovative research that contributes to our understanding of health and disease.

The 2025 award has been presented to Jeremy Aboagye for his remarkable project titled “Li-RA: a 3 in 1 vaccine to batten down the hatches against melioidosis.” Under the expert guidance of his supervisor, Prof. Ed Lavelle (AIVRT PI) and Lorena Garcia del Rio, Jeremy's research addresses a critical area in infectious disease, showcasing the potential of novel vaccine strategies to combat melioidosis, a serious illness caused by the bacterium Burkholderia pseudomallei.
